Print Marketing for Sydney Tradies: What You Need, What Works, What to Order First

If you are a tradie in Sydney, your reputation is everything. Word of mouth drives your business. Showing up on time, doing good work and leaving the job site clean keeps the phone ringing. But if the people around each job site do not know your name, you are leaving referrals on the table every single day.

That is where print marketing comes in. Not fancy — practical. Here is what works.

Business Cards: Non-Negotiable

Every tradie needs business cards. Not 50. Not 100. Hundreds. You should have cards in your tool bag, your van, your jacket and your workshop. Every satisfied customer, every neighbour who watched you work on their street, every person who asks what you do at a barbecue — they all get a card.

For tradies, plastic business cards or thick laminated cards make the most sense. They survive the tool bag. They do not get soggy in a pocket. They still look professional three months after they were handed over. Order 500 as a minimum.

Corflute Site Signs: Your Best Passive Marketing

Here is the most underrated marketing tool for any tradie: a corflute sign on the front fence of every job you do.

You are working on a house in Castle Hill. Three other homeowners on the street are watching. They see your van, they see your work, and they see your sign. Name, trade, phone number. That is it. No sales pitch needed — your work is the pitch.

Corflute signs are cheap. Order a dozen. Put them on every site. Collect them when you leave. Over time, your name becomes familiar in the suburbs you work in, and familiar names get called first.

Vehicle Magnets and Signage

Your van or ute is on Sydney roads for hours every day. Without signage, it is invisible. With a well-designed magnetic sign or vinyl wrap, it is a mobile billboard that works while you drive to Bunnings, while you are parked on the job, and while it sits outside your house overnight.

Vehicle magnets are particularly practical because they can be removed and reattached, are not permanent, and can be updated when your number changes or you rebrand. Order two — one for each side.

Flyers for New Suburb Targeting

When you start working in a new suburb, an A5 letterbox drop flyer is the most direct way to introduce yourself to the neighbourhood. Keep the design simple: your trade, your name, your guarantee, your phone number and a compelling reason to call now (new customer discount, free quote, etc.). Distribute to the 50 closest houses to every new job you start.

T-Shirts and Caps

A clean, well-branded T-shirt with your logo and trade makes you look professional on site. It also makes you identifiable and approachable. Customers prefer to deal with a tradie who has a clear brand identity. It signals structure, reliability and permanence.

Caps with embroidered logos are cheap, practical in the Sydney sun and universally worn. Order a dozen, put your logo on them, and hand them to long-term customers. They will wear them.

What to Order First

If you are just getting started or have been operating without proper print materials: business cards first (plastic or laminated, 500 minimum). Corflute site signs second (order 10 to start). Vehicle magnets third. Everything else can follow once the basics are in place.

ABC Print Shop offers same-day printing across Sydney for many of these products. We are based in Bella Vista in the Hills District and deliver across Greater Sydney.
